about Heartbeat:

I recorded the piano part for Heartbeat whilst on a Solo Collective tour with Anne and Alex in Germany in mid February 2020. The atmospheric sound is the processed sound of my son Noah's heartbeat in my partner's womb, recorded by the midwife during a check up sometime in February. I produced the track as a tribute to Noah, and my excitement about his forthcoming birth. Sadly he didn't survive the pregnancy and was stillborn at Swindon hospital on 24th July 2020.

As we've found since Noah's birth it's surprising how common miscarriage and stillbirth seem to be, but how hard it is to prepare expectant parents for it as a very real and possible outcome of pregnancy. This is shared with love and solidarity for the parents and families that have been through this in the past, are going through it now and will go through it in the future. And again a thank you to all our friends, family and loved ones as well as the medical staff who have been so kind and supportive during this time.

about My Mother Was The Wind:

Recorded at home on a rainy day in Wolvercote, Oxford in Spring 2020, My Mother Was The Wind is a tribute to my dearly departed mother, Sheenagh Reynolds, who passed away on 30th August 2016. I have a powerful memory of a rainy day spent with her during my childhood days, and this track was an attempt to channel the grief, nostalgia and warmth of these kinds of memories.
